The Buoyant Foundation Project (BFP) designs and retrofits buoyant (amphibious) foundations for traditional elevated wooden homes, especially those in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward. BFP flood-proofs existing homes, thereby limiting the destruction of neighborhood character that results from permanent static elevation high above ground.
