How to Change a Password, Username, or Email PDF Print E-mail

If you would like to change the password, user name, or email address of any of the users on your Joomla account, you can do so by following these steps:

 

1) Once you have logged into your Joomla account, click the large "User Manager" button that is on the Welcome page that you are sent to after logging in:

 

Or you can hover your cursor over the word "Site" in the top left corner.  Other options will appear when you do this.

*Note:   The other options will only appear if you are not in edit mode, which is denoted with the word [Edit] next to the title of the page you're on.  Example: "Article:  [Edit]" or "User:  [Edit]" 

 Click on "User Manager."

 

2) Click on the user whose password you would like to change.

 

3) Change passwords by typing your new password in the "New Password" box and typing it again in the "Verify Password" box.

Change  usernames by deleting the name in the "Username" box and typing in a new one.

Change email addresses by deleting the existing address in the box and typing in a new one.

 

4) Save your changes.

 

 
How to Delete a User PDF Print E-mail

If you no longer want one or more users to have access to your Joomla account, you can delete them by following these steps:

 

1) Once you have logged into your Joomla account, click the large "User Manager" button that is on the Welcome page that you are sent to after logging in:

 Click on "User Manager."

 

2) Click to place a check in the box next to the user(s) you want to delete.

 

3) Click the "Delete" button in the upper right-hand side of the page.

 

 The deleted user(s) will no longer be able to access your Joomla account using their username and password.

 
How to Add a User PDF Print E-mail

If you would like to allow other persons to access your Joomla account, you can add them as a user.
To do this, follow the steps below:

 

1) Once you have logged into your Joomla account, click the large "User Manager" button that is on the Welcome page that you are sent to after logging in:

 Click on "User Manager."

 

2) On the User Manager page, click "New" at the upper right-hand side of the page.

 

3)  Fill in the new user's information.

 

 

4) In the "Group" box, you can select the level of access the user has by clicking on one of the group names (e.g. "Author, " "Registered," "Manager," etc.)

 

5) You can also select your time zone on the right side of the screen by using the drop down menu next to "Time Zone."

 

6) When you are satisfied with your input, click "Save" on the upper right-hand side of the page.

Your new user can now log in with his or her own username and password.
