How to Link to Another Article PDF Print E-mail

If you want to put a link in one article to another of your articles, follow these steps:

 

1) Navigate to the article you want to edit (see Steps 1 and 2 of How to Edit an Article) or start a new article (see How to Add an Article).

Once there, highlight the word(s) or picture you want to add the link to.  

To highlight a single word, hover over it and double click.

To highlight more than one word, click before the first letter of the phrase and drag past the last letter, until the portion you want is highlighted.

 

To highlight a picture, click on it

 

2)Click the icon that looks like chain links (it should be clickable because you have something highlighted).

 

3) A new window will open up.  In the "Title" box, type the name of the article you want to link to.  

 

 

4) Then click the "Insert" button.

 If you linked a word, it will now be blue.   If you linked a picture, it will now have a blue box around it.

 

5) Be sure to save your changes by clicking "Apply" or "Save."

 
How to Add Pagebreaks to an Article PDF Print E-mail

If you want to break an article into multiple separate, but related webpages, you can use pagebreaks.  Pagebreaks also add a Table of Contents which includes links to all the webpages you created from your article.

 To insert pagebreaks in your article, follow these steps:

 

1) Once you are in the article you would like to edit (see Steps 1 and 2 of How to Edit an Article,) find the place in the article where you would like your pagebreak to appear and click so your typing cursor is in that spot.  Scroll to the bottom of the the Article [Edit] page or Article [New] page if you are starting a new article (see How to Add an Article).

Click the "Pagebreak" button.

 

 

2) A window will open, overlaying your screen. 

Fill in the "Page Title" and "Table of Contents Alias" fields with pertinent titles.  They should be the same or similar.

 

3) Click the "Insert Page Break" button.



A gray wavey line will appear across your article where your typing cursor was last.  This is the pagebreak. You can insert more by repeating these steps.

 

4) Once you are satisfied with your changes, click "Save."  This will save your changes and exit the article editor. 

If you would like to save without exiting the article, you can click "Apply."

 

 
How to Add Read More Links to an Article PDF Print E-mail

A Read more pagebreak sections your article and places a "Read more..." link on your page.  Users click this link to continue to the next part of your article which appears on a different webpage. 

To add Read more page breaks to your article, use the following instructions:

 

1) Once you are in the article you would like to edit (see Steps 1 and 2 of How to Edit an Article,) find the place in the article where you would like your Read more break to appear and click so your typing cursor is in that spot.  Scroll to the bottom of the the Article [Edit] page or Article [New] page if you are starting a new article (see How to Add an Article).

Click the "Read more..." button.

 A red dashed line will appear across your article where your typing cursor was last.  This is the Read more pagebreak.

 

2) Once you are satisfied with your changes, click "Save."  This will save your changes and exit the article editor. 

If you would like to save without exiting the article, you can click "Apply."

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
How to Add an Image PDF Print E-mail

If you would like to add an image to an article, follow these steps:

 

1) Once you are in the article you would like to edit (see Steps 1 and 2 of How to Edit an Article,) find the place in the article where you would like your image to appear and click so your typing cursor is in that spot.  Scroll to the bottom of the the Article [Edit] page or Article [New] page if you are starting a new article (see How to Add an Article). 

Click the "Image" button.

 

2) A window will open, overlaying your screen.  

In the "Upload" section at the bottom of this new window, click "Browse."

Another window will open in which you can navigate the the image on your computer that you want to upload.  Once you've found the image you want, highlight it by clicking on it.

 At the bottom of the "File Upload" window, click the "Open" button.

 

 The "File Upload" window will close and you will be brought back to the first window that opened.

 

3)  In the "Upload" section, click "Start Upload."

When the file is done uploading the window will reload with a success message at the top of it.  You can upload more images by scrolling down with the outer scroll bar so the "Upload" section is visible and repeat Steps 2-3)

 

Now you can click on your image to select it (you may have to scroll using the inner scroll bar to find it).

 

4) Click "Insert" at the top right corner of the window.

The window will close, you will be returned to the Article [Edit] or Article [New] page you were editing and your image will be inserted where you're typing cursor was last.

 

5) Once you are satisfied with your changes, click "Save."  This will save your changes and exit the article editor. 

If you would like to save without exiting the article, you can click "Apply."

 

 
How to Link to External Sites PDF Print E-mail

To put a link to another website in an article, follow these steps:

 

1) Navigate to the article you want to edit (see Steps 1 and 2 of How to Edit an Article.)

Once there, highlight the word(s) or picture you want to add the link to.  

To highlight a single word, hover over it and double click.

To highlight more than one word, click before the first letter of the phrase and drag past the last letter, until the portion you want is highlighted.

 

To highlight a picture, click on it.

 

 

2)Click the icon that looks like chain links (it should be clickable because you have something highlighted).

 

 

3) A new window will open up, input the link address in the Link URL box.  Be sure to include the "http://"

 

 

4) Then click the "Insert" button.

 If you linked a word, it will now be blue.   If you linked a picture, it will now have a blue box around it.

 

5) Be sure to save your changes by clicking "Apply" or "Save."
